Ramallah, occupied Palestine - Palestinian political detainee 60-year-old Mohey al-Din Fahmi Saeed Nijim, from the city of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank, has been martyred in the Israeli occupation’s custody, specifically while hospitalized and detained at the Israeli Soroka Medical Center.
Israeli occupation authorities disclosed the information to Palestinian officials through the General Authority of Civil Affairs. The Commission of Detainees’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) subsequently informed the family.
The PPS and the Detainees’ Commission hold the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the martyrdom of detainee Mohey al-Din Fahmi Saeed Nijim.
Nijim is the latest Palestinian prisoner to be killed both directly and indirectly by the Israeli occupation at an unprecedented rate since the genocide in Gaza, in a variety of inhumane ways including torture, severe physical assault, starvation and medical denial.
A husband and father-of-six, Nijim had been targeted by the occupation for decades. He has spent a total of 19 years in Israeli prisons. He was last arrested on August 8, 2023, several months before the genocide began. He was held behind bars without any trial or charges under “administrative detention” for close to two years, before he was martyred today.
