Ramallah, occupied Palestine - Israel continues to commit the crime of enforced disappearance against thousands of Palestinians - both killed and alive – abducted from Gaza— one of the most defining features of the close to two years of genocide, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said today. The crime intensified after Israeli ground invasions, with children and women among the victims.

In a statement on the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearance - marked annually on August 30 - the PPS said enforced disappearance has served as a primary cover for widespread torture against Palestinian detainees arrested from Gaza, leading to the death of dozens. Two years into the genocide, relevant organizations still face major challenges in obtaining clear, accurate data on the number of detainees and martyrs taken from Gaza.
