🔴 The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society highlights key information about martyred journalist from Gaza

It was announced yesterday that journalist Ihab Mohammed Abdelqader Diab had been killed, nearly three years after his fate was forcibly concealed. He was killed in September 2024, while the occupation authorities continued to deny that he had been detained and concealed his fate since his arrest at his home on December 12, 2023.

Ihab was arrested in front of his family. From the moment of his arrest, his family received no information about his fate, until a response was obtained confirming his martyrdom.

Ihab was born in 1990. He was married and a father of two children. He held a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Media from Al-Azhar University in Gaza and worked as a journalist.

Ihab had also lost two brothers. His first brother was killed on November 11, 2004, while his second brother was killed on December 27, 2008.

On the anniversary of the killing of journalists Anas al-Sharif, Mohammed Qreiqeh, and their colleagues, we recall that the occupation has killed more than 260 journalists in the Gaza Strip, as part of an ongoing targeting of journalists and attempts to silence the voice of truth.

Since the beginning of the genocide, the PPS has documented more than 250 cases of arrest and detention of journalists. Ihab Diab is considered the second journalist to be killed inside the occupation’s prisons since the beginning of the genocide, following journalist and martyr Marwan Harzallah.

The martrdom of detained journalist Diab adds to the record of crimes committed against Palestinian journalists as part of the genocide, including killing, arrest, and enforced disappearance.
