⭕*Over 2,000 Palestinian Children Abducted Across West Bank, Jerusalem by Israeli Occupation Forces Since Gaza Genocide*
⭕*6 Children Arrested Overnight; At least 350 Remain Behind Bars*

October 14, 2026

Ramallah, occupied Palestine – The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) said that the Israeli occupation continues to escalate its targeting of Palestinian children through practices ranging from intimidation and arrest, to torture, starvation, isolation and denial of medical care. These practices reveal the expanding scope of violations and crimes and reflect the period that has followed the ongoing genocide.

The PPS explained that occupation forces arrested at least six children from the West Bank last night, with arrests concentrated in the towns of Sa’ir and ash-Shuyukh in Hebron. Meanwhile, monitoring and documentation indicate that more than 2,000 children have been subjected to abduction and arrest across the West Bank and Jerusalem since the start of the crime of genocide, and at least 350 children remain in detention under harsh conditions.

At the same time, information concerning the number of children taken from the Gaza Strip in the aftermath of the genocide remains unclear, particularly given the thousands of people missing in Gaza, including children, and the continued policy of enforced disappearance.

The policy of administrative detention—which entails holding children without stated charges or a clear timeframe for release—constitutes an additional violation and crime. It leaves children facing an uncertain future and deprives them of family stability and access to education. The occupation’s top courts also play major a role in entrenching such crimes committed against children.

We once again draw attention to the case of child detainee Walid Khaled Ahmad, who starved to death inside 'Megiddo' prison in March 2025. Medical findings at the time indicated severe emaciation and signs of malnutrition and dehydration. The closure of the investigation into his death raises serious questions about accountability.

Alongside this case, we highlight that of 15-year-old Mohammed Hamid, whose health deteriorated after he contracted scabies while being held in Ofer Prison. His condition progressed to severe infections affecting vital organs, requiring heart surgery. He subsequently became critically ill in intensive care and later had one of his legs amputated.

Mohammed remains under medical treatment nearly three months later. The Israeli occupation’s prison system shirked its responsibility for the crime committed against him by releasing him only after his condition had reached this stage, thereby avoiding the costs of treating him.

These two cases are among hundreds involving the arrest of children. Each case and each detention ordeal reveal further evidence of the severe and tragic conditions endured by Palestinian child prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons, as well as the profound psychological and physical harm inflicted upon them. Their families, too, have been burdened with additional hardships and forced to confront major challenges following their children’s release.

The PPS calls for effective international action to secure the release of children held arbitrarily, end administrative detention and coercive interrogations, and put a stop to torture, starvation and the denial of medical treatment. It also called for families, lawyers and independent monitoring bodies to be granted access to detainees, and for independent and effective investigations into these crimes to be opened.
